Shannon Ruhe is the founder and director of Lima Montessori. All instructors have Bachelor or Master level training.
Children prepare their own snack to include a fresh fruit, vegetable, and gluten free grain.
Mondays: optional allergen free lunch prepared by The Meeting Place.
Fridays: Create your own allergen friendly pizza.
We use MRX to align our Montessori curriculum with Ohio Common Core. Every child has a portfolio of their work and this remains in the classroom.
Each child receives individualized AMS Montessori instuction in Math, Language Arts, History, Science, Culture, Physical education, and the Arts. Private Piano is offered on site. Weekly Art, Music, Gymnastics, PE, and cooking is part of our curriculum.
Children in our program are ages 5-10 years old. Instructors have bachelor and master level training in education and/or in Montessori education. We believe in God and study creation.
-Cheryl Quay, 42 years service in Shawnee schools K-5. BS in Music Ed, Masters in Education Bowling Green University, additional Masters work in special ed and gifted ed Ohio State University.
-Anna Fisher, BA from Bluffton University. Taught at Art Space Lima since 1997. She is very active in Lima and surrounding communities including Gallery Director at Riverside Art Center Wapak.
Parents who assist:
-Emily Kurland, women's health nurse practioner and registered nurse and is now home with her children who attend Lima Montessori. She attended Montessori as a child as her mom was a teacher. She enjoys helping out with Montessori.
-Christa Risolvato, Masters in Health Education, she's now home with her children who attend Lima Montessori. She enjoys assisting in PE and in the classroom.
-Shannon N Ruhe, BS in elementary education from Indiania University of Pennsylvania & AMS lower elementary training Houston Montessori Training Center with Betsy Coe Ph.D. executive director. After her husband was transferred to Lima, she founded Lima Montessori so that her elementary aged children could continue within a Montessori community as they had in Kingwood, TX for their early childhood experience.
-MaryJane McCarthy retired from Lima City Schools. Her BS is in elementary education and her Masters in education with Montessori training from Xavier University of Cinncinati. She enjoys assisting in our Montessori community.
-Marylu Anthony, Bachelor of Sacred Music and Piano Performance, and a Nationally certified teacher of music through MTNA. She's the pianist for the choirs and ensembles at Elida Middle and Highschools. She and her husband Rev Doug Anthony are the worship pastors at Shawnee Alliance Church in Lima.
